Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved a strategic reshuffle of the State Executive Council aimed at strengthening governance, improving service delivery, and enhancing administrative efficiency.
The changes were contained in a letter dated January 29 and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor. The letter was made available to journalists on Friday.
According to the statement, the reshuffle is part of ongoing efforts by the administration to improve coordination and promote greater effectiveness in the management of state affairs.
As part of the adjustments, Vincent Osas Uwadiae, who previously served as Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Lands and Housing as Commissioner.
Yakubu Oshiorenua, the former Commissioner for Lands and Housing, has been appointed Chief of Staff to the Governor at the Government House.
Gani Audu, who served as Chief of Staff, has been nominated as Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources. His appointment is subject to confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly.
The changes are scheduled to take effect from January 30, 2026.
Governor Okpebholo expressed confidence that the new appointments and redeployments would enhance policy implementation and strengthen governance across Edo State.
Since taking office, the governor has emphasised inclusive governance, improved security, and infrastructure development. Observers say the reshuffle signals an effort to position experienced officials in roles where they can have greater impact.
