Benin City, Edo State — Senator Monday Okpebholo has suspended Dr. Caulson Osoikhia Oahimire, the Executive Secretary of the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, over allegations of financial and official misconduct.
In an official statement released by the Edo State Government, Okpebholo directed the most senior official in the agency to take over leadership pending the outcome of a special committee investigation into the matter. The government assured residents that the inquiry would be thorough and transparent.
The suspension has sparked discussions across the state, with political analysts and opposition figures questioning this approach to governance. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized what they describe as an “unrelenting spree of suspensions,” suggesting that these actions may be politically motivated.
Apart from Dr. Oahimire, other officials in Edo State have faced suspension under Okpebholo’s administration, including:
Samson Osage, the State Attorney General (previously suspended over corruption allegations but later reinstated).
Damian Lawani, Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission.
Kelly Okungbowa, Head of the Public Safety Response Team.
Friday Ibadin, Commander of the State Security Corps.
Ahmed Momoh, CEO of FEWMA.
