Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) has confirmed the presence of hydrocarbons at the Awodi-07 appraisal and exploration well located in shallow offshore waters of the western Niger Delta.
The well was drilled under the joint venture between the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and Chevron, as part of ongoing efforts to further assess and unlock hydrocarbon potential within the asset portfolio.
Drilling operations began in late November 2025 and concluded in mid-December 2025. After extensive testing, logging, and data acquisition, the well was safely secured. According to NNPC, results indicate a significant presence of hydrocarbons across multiple reservoir zones, although detailed figures were not disclosed.
The discovery supports the joint venture’s broader objective of increasing oil production from its Niger Delta operations. Chevron Nigeria operates the joint venture with a 40 percent stake, while NNPC holds the remaining 60 percent interest.
The partners continue to target higher production levels as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s upstream output and energy sector performance.
