The Nollywood community is in mourning following the tragic news of Edo-born actress Sharon Okpamen’s death, which occurred just a month after she gave birth to her second child. The beloved actress, known for her talent and humanitarian work, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024.
Reports revealed that Okpamen fell into a coma shortly after giving birth in July 2024. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, she was unable to recover. Her death has left a void in the Nollywood and Edo entertainment industries.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed by her colleague, movie producer Stanley Ontop, who shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. “Nollywood Actor and Producer Sharon Okpamen has unfortunately passed on. It’s a sad day for Nollywood & the Edo entertainment industry,” Ontop wrote. “Sharon, who was a filmmaker, actress, entrepreneur & humanitarian, has left a significant void in the industry. May her soul rest in perfect peace, Amen @sharonokpamen. It can only get better.”
