Founder of the Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel) and Chancellor of Covenant University, Bishop David Oyedepo, has disclosed that he has never earned any wages from the university since it was founded in 2001.
He made this statement during the university’s 19th convocation, held as part of the “The Release of Eagles 2024” event.
The convocation, which ran from Thursday to Saturday, saw 1,607 students graduate, with 339 receiving first-class honours. Oyedepo emphasized that the success stories of the graduates have been his true reward. He encouraged them to focus on making meaningful contributions to society rather than seeking personal gain, echoing his own experience with the institution.
Oyedepo also expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, urging graduates to stay committed to God’s plan and to play a role in building a “brand new Nigeria.”
The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abiodun Adebayo, praised the graduates, known as the “Eagles 2024,” for their potential to become future leaders. Former Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, whose child graduated with first-class honours, and the Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege, were also present, highlighting the impact of Covenant University on its community and beyond.
