The Edo State Government has formally reached out to Senator Monday Okpebholo, urging the formation of his transition team to collaborate with the outgoing administration’s team. This initiative aims to ensure a smooth and effective transfer of power.
In a letter dated October 10, 2024, Secretary to the State Government, Joseph Eboigbe, emphasized the importance of this collaboration. He stated that establishing the transition team would facilitate meaningful discussions and the exchange of vital information, ensuring continuity in governance.
Governor Godwin Obaseki had previously inaugurated a 20-member transition committee in July 2024, chaired by Joseph Eboigbe, to oversee the seamless transition of power to the incoming administration.
The letter to Senator Okpebholo reads: “As we prepare for the transition of power, it is crucial to establish a smooth and effective collaboration between your team and our current administration.”
Eboigbe further invited the All Progressives Congress (APC) to form their transition team promptly, highlighting that this would enable both parties to begin essential discussions and share critical information for a seamless transfer of responsibilities.
The Secretary to the State Government assured that the current administration is committed to providing the necessary support and resources to ensure an efficient transition. He proposed October 14, 2024, for the inaugural meeting of both transition committees.
“We look forward to your prompt response and to working closely with you and your team in the coming weeks. Together, we can lay the foundation for a successful administration that meets the expectations of our constituents,” Eboigbe added.
The letter, received by an administrative secretary at the Edo State Chapter of the APC, Mr. Joy Oyere, has yet to receive a response.
