The Agbonjague Leemon Ikpea Foundation, a non-governmental organization, has awarded scholarships to 50 students from the University of Benin (UNIBEN) and Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma. This was disclosed by the foundation’s Executive Director, Difference Irabor, on Monday.
Out of the 50 scholarships, 21 were awarded to indigent students from UNIBEN, while the remaining 29 went to students from AAU. Since the inception of the scholarship scheme in the 2012/2013 academic session, the foundation has supported numerous students, ranging from secondary to tertiary institutions, as well as artisans across various states in Nigeria.
The 2023/2024 academic session scholarship covers varying tuition fees for the beneficiaries. Irabor emphasized that the foundation is committed to securing a brighter future for Nigerian youths, regardless of their ethnic or political background.
Some of the scholarship recipients, including Idialu Marvelous and Longe Greatness, expressed their gratitude to the foundation’s founder, Leemon Ikpea, Chairman and Managing Director of Lee Engineering Group and Allied Companies Ltd, for his generosity in supporting the education of the less privileged. Parents and guardians also praised the foundation for its life-changing contributions.
