Benin City, 13 November 2024 – In a decisive move, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced the immediate and indefinite suspension of all revenue collection activities across the state. This suspension particularly affects collections in motor parks and other public areas.
Okpebholo has directed the State Commissioner of Police to enforce this order strictly. Anyone found collecting revenues on behalf of the state government will face arrest.
He emphasized that this suspension is temporary while he reviews the current revenue collection processes and addresses the concerns raised. He assured that new directives will be issued soon.
“The collection of revenues in the state has been suspended indefinitely. Anyone seen collecting revenues on behalf of the state government will be arrested,” Okpebholo stated. “The Commissioner of Police is hereby ordered to arrest anyone who flouts this order. The Governor will soon address the issues and concerns raised and will issue new directives shortly. Until then, no one is authorized to collect revenues on behalf of the state government.”
