March 3, 2025 – Youths from Ugu Ward in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State have accused President Tinubu’s Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, of commissioning a non-existent road project. The alleged road, named “Abraka-Oben Road,” has sparked outrage among the community members who claim it does not exist anywhere in their locality.

The protest, led by the Ugu Youths for Development Change (UYDC), saw the youths marching to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Edo State secretariat to express their grievances. According to Comrade Monday Osemwenkhae, the Coordinator of UYDC, the commissioning of the non-existent road is a calculated attempt to cover up the continuous neglect of their area by the ministry and its affiliate agencies.
The protesters highlighted that the Oben oil field, which houses the highest gas deposit in West Africa, has been neglected for years. They called on President Bola Tinubu to change the narrative and address the issues in their community.
