In a recent press release, the Edo State Police Command announced the arrest of eight suspects in connection with the ongoing crisis in the Obazagbon community. The conflict, which revolves around the leadership positions of Chairman and Okiaghele of the community, has led to the tragic loss of innocent lives and the destruction of properties worth millions of naira. The most recent victim was Efe, a deaf and mute individual, whose death has left the community in shock.
The Divisional Police Officer of Iyekogba Division, along with operatives from “Operation Rescue” and the Anti-Kidnapping unit, conducted a successful operation in the area. The arrested suspects have been identified as Obayuwana Happy (25), Uhunwangho Everest (52), Chidera Umeh (21), Joshua Edo (50), Simon Benjamin (39), Odion Adagbonyin (43), Kennedy Ohro (42), and Osayi Adagbonyin (41). Their involvement in the mayhem has been confirmed, and normalcy has been restored to the area.
Commissioner of Police, CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and properties in the state. She vowed that all those found culpable would face the full wrath of the law.
