The arena for the reelection campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, in Avbiosi Ward 5, Owan West Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo State, was choked with supporters who turned out in large number to receive and cheer their candidate, and his running mate, Rt. Hon. Comr. Philip Shaibu, in spite of the Friday’s heavy rainfall in the area.
The governor while addressing the mammoth crowd of supporters, commended them for their resilience and commitment, assuring that his administration will continue to pursue policies and reforms to better the livelihood of the people.
Obaseki noted: “I want to thank you all for waiting even when it is raining. I don’t want to keep you too long in the rain but I must say that I am really impressed to see this large gathering despite the heavy downpour.
“You can now see the importance of the umbrella. Even in the rain, you still waited to see and hear from me.
“This is the first campaign we are witnessing downpour; it also shows the uniqueness of this ward. Anything you ask me to do is what I will do; I will tar the road from Avbiosi to Uzeba.”
Speaking at the campaign ground, Mrs. Elizabeth Oje thanked the governor for extending development to their community.
“Why won’t we defy all odds to receive our governor? He has done well for us and we have to show him love; the rain is even a sign of blessing.”
On his part, Chairman of Edo PDP Governorship Campaign Council, Chief Dan Orbih, said:”This election is about having the capacity to move Edo forward and Obaseki has the tools to achieve that. For better education, healthcare system, good roads and other infrastructure, you need to vote Obaseki for continuity.”
