The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Monday, said the Edo State College of Health Sciences and Technology (EDOCOHEST) will commence academic activities on September 9, 2024.
Obaseki spoke to journalists after an inspection tour of the facilities of the institution at Dumez Road in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
He was accompanied by the Provost of the College, Dr. Moyo Kasim, and other staff of the institution.
The governor said the CBT exams for admission into the college will take place later in August, reassuring that his administration and management of the institution are working round the clock to ensure classes resume on September 9, 2024.
“I have just been told by the Provost that the CBT exams for admission into this institution will take place later this month and work is on round the clock to ensure classes resume here on September 9, 2024. This is why I am here to see things for myself.
“We are really running out of time but the critical facilities that are required for the school to start are ready; the laboratories are ready and hostels for about 400 students are also ready. I have been given the assurance and I have no reason to disbelieve them that this place will be ready to kick off academic activities by September 9, 2024.”
Earlier, the Provost of the College, Dr. Moyo Kasim said, “We went through the accreditation processes about a couple of weeks ago, and I can assure you that before the end of next week, we will receive an official letter for the accreditation. But unofficially, all our programmes will be accredited before lectures start on September 9, 2024.”
