The Edo State Government has pledged to sustain ongoing reforms in the state’s civil and public service to engender responsive and technology-driven service delivery, leveraging the immense potential of technology to increase the productivity of the state’s workforce.
The Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq, gave the assurance during a monitoring and evaluation exercise for 94 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) across the state.
He noted that the government is transforming the state’s civil and public service, ensuring that every worker is adequately equipped with the needed skills and tools to guarantee efficient service delivery to Edo people.
Okungbowa said the state is leveraging technology and operating an e-governance system to enhance transparency in government, eliminate corruption and promote efficiency, adding, “This is a part of the instruments put in place by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration to ensure effective and efficient service delivery to the people.”
The HOS explained that the e-governance system will enhance modern work ethics introduced in the service by the government, noting that “since the onboarding of the e-governance system in April, 2022, the government has put measures in place to ensure strict compliance in its implementation.”
He further disclosed that the government has onboarded over 123 workers as Edo e-governance champions that serve as change agents in driving the implementation of the technology-driven system across the various MDAs in the state.
Okungbowa explained that “the modules involved in the Edo-governance system include memo management, mail management, leave application, training, and general request, among others embedded on the platform to make work easy and balanced.”
