Edo State Government has called on Independent Petroleum Marketers Association Of Nigeria, IPMAN, Edo State branch to continue to make Petroleum products available in the state.
This was made known at a meeting between the Commissioner of Mining, Oil and Gas, Hon. Ethan Uzamere and other stakeholders in the Petroleum distribution chain in the state to address the impending strike by the Association.
“Government has provided a conducive environment for the stakeholders in the Petroleum distribution chain to carry out their business. The asset you control is necessary to the people of the state hence you cannot afford to go on strike especially when festivities are around the corner “.
Hon. Uzamere pointed out that government was aware of the internal crisis within the IPMAN body maintaining that government will take a position after meeting with the parties involved and considering all submissions made to it.
The Commissioner urged the marketers to properly scrutinized products they sell to citizens as the state cannot afford a case of explosion ocassioned by adulterated products.
He also appealed to them to adhere to the government approved pump price for petroleum products.
At the meeting were the Nigeria Upstream and Downstream Regulatory Commission, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association Of Nigeria, Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, NSCDC, DSS, National Association of Road Transport Owners and Petroleum Tankers Drivers Association.
