Benin City, Edo State – In a bid to address the growing concerns of development control and environmental issues in the state, Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has inaugurated a taskforce to oversee the implementation of policies and regulations in these areas.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie, the taskforce will be chaired by Hon. Matthew Ikhide, with Isaac Ero serving as Secretary.
Governor Obaseki was quoted as saying, “The constitution of this taskforce is a demonstration of our commitment to ensuring that our state is developed in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly manner. We will not tolerate any form of environmental degradation or unauthorized development in our state.”
Hon. Matthew Ikhide, Chairman of the taskforce, assured that the team will work tirelessly to ensure that the objectives of the taskforce are achieved. “We will leave no stone unturned in our quest to restore sanity to our environment and ensure that all developments in the state are in line with our master plan,” he said.
Other members of the taskforce include Fidelis Owen, Bridget Ojo Omorotionwan, Ese Ogbebor, Henry Enabulele, Osamudiamwen Omoregie, and Bobby Obayuwana.
The taskforce is expected to be inaugurated on a date to be announced later.
