The Edo State Government has reassured its commitment to enhance the capacity of medical personnel, as part of drive to deliver quality and affordable healthcare to residents across the state.
The Executive Secretary, Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. (Mrs) Obarisiagbon Eloghosa made the submission a during capacity building programme on Long Acting Reversible Contraceptive/Adolescent and Youth Friendly-Health Services for nurses and midwives across the Local Government Primary Healthcare Centres and Secondary Health Facilities, in Benin City.
She said the training which was organized in partnership with The Challenge Initiatives (TCI), will help in the improvement of quality health care delivery.
Dr. Obarisiagbon urged the trainees to be focused and learn the proper approach in rendering quality health care without bias, adding that medical personnel must encourage patients to patronise authorized health centres instead of engaging in trado-medical practices that would not provide definite diagnosis.
One of the instructors at the training, Dr. Bernard Aisosa said that the aim of the training is to equip the service provider with the needed technical support for quality health service and to render all ranges of family planning services accurately.
Aisosa affirmed that a person’s belief, to a large extent, influences what he or she does, adding that in a work environment, beliefs could either drive negatively or positively.
According to him, “The proper approach to rendering quality health services is to respect client views and not allow personal belief and value to militate against providing the best of services either because of religious or cultural belief.”
