The chairman of Edo State House of Assembly committee on works and public utilities, Hon. Bright Iyamu said the state government has commenced remedial work on the Benin-Agbor road as a measure to alleviate the suffering of average Edo person that plys the road .
The deplorable condition of the Benin-Agbor road in Ikpoba Okha local government area of Edo state recently drew the ire of Ikpoba Hill youths who block the road for days.
The Benin-Agbor road has been in deplorable condition since last year and has made life unbearable for commuters and residents of the area.
According to Hon Iyamu who represents Orhiomwon south at the Edo Assembly, said the Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin obaseki in his magnanimity even though the road in question belongs to the federal government, the governor decided to embarked on the palliative rehabilitation of the road to meet the needs of Edo people whom he swore to serve.
Hon Iyamu, however pleaded with the federal government to urgently fix the road to cushion the stress commuters and motorist go through to have a smooth ride to their various destinations.
Also speaking on the road issue, the commissioner for Roads and Bridges, Engr. Ethan Uzamare, assured residents and commuters that the palliative measure will be completed soon.
The present palliative work is being undertaken by the State Government, following the non chalant attitude of the Federal Government to fix the bad portion of the Benin-Agbor road.
