Prior to the Edo state 2020 Governorship, the crisis that engulfed the Edo state chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) which was obviously orchestrated by the then APC National Chairman and former Governor of Edo State Comrade Oshiomhole dye to his irreconcilable fused between him and the Executive Governor of Edo State Mr. Godwin Obaseki who blackmailed, maligned and rubbished by the former APC National Chairman foot soldiers who ignorantly claimed that the Governor denied the Oshiomhole loyalists elected in 2019 general election from being inaugurated into the Edo State House of Assembly, some of them erroneously alleged that the proclamation letter the Governor sent to the Clerk of the House was not properly sent, meanwhile according to the Nigeria constitutional provisions, the only responsibility of a state Governor of a state on the issue that has to do with house inauguration was the sending of proclamation letter to the Clerk of the House for onward action which His Excellency Governor did.
It will interest you to note that, among the 14 runaway members-elect, 2 of them were were part of the 10 in the House today that were properly inaugurated along, but these 2 were latter deceived and induced to joined Oshiomhole loyalists at the Abuja hotels for pleasure. They boasted of using Federal might, National Assembly, the Court and all available powers within their reach to frustrate the Governor, but as God will have it, all their plans failed went in vain.
The aftermath of the just concluded APC primaries that saw most of the Oshiomhole’s loyalists loosing out of the primaries to Pastor Ize-Iyamu group in Edo South have created a political hullabaloo exposing the bitter war of lies and propaganda they instituted against Governor Obaseki pre, during and after the 2020 Governorship election just to whip public sympathy.
Hon.Washington Osifo who vied for the Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal constituency was the arrow head of the rebellious law makers-elect started crying wolf after he was hedged out from the APC primary contest, Mr. Osifo lamented over the insensitivity of the APC leaders, he opined that loyalty was supposed rewarded with honour, he further to opined that loyalty requires political reward and honour through upward mobility, he added that the APC leaders betrayed loyalty, he commended Governor Godwin Obaseki for putting his loyalists first.
In a swift reaction to Hon.Osifo’s verbose, an APC Chieftain from Ekose in Uhunmwode local government area Mr. Pius Onaghise described Hon. Washington Osifo as a serial betrayal who has no respect for leaders.
He alleged that Mr. Osifo betrayed his own cousin one late Mr. Enobu and so many others, he said Mr. Osifo uses public office positions in the past to insult party leaders.
He went further to say “What even annoyed the APC leader in Uhunmwode and the ward chairmen was that he was elected to represent Uhunmwode in the State House of Assembly, depriving Uhunmwode people of representation at that level for four years. So after wasting the efforts party members put in to elect him into the State House of Assembly in 2019, he now impudently wanted to go the House of Representatives? Mr. Onaghise asked.
Going by the verbal war from these two individuals others from the two side divides in the Edo APC that are currently driving the party into a war of attraction, so many past secrets are being revealed and His Excellency Godwin Obaseki has been vindicated, it is now clear that those members-elect who refused to make themselves available for inauguration did so out of their greediness at the detriment of their constituents who gave them the 4 years mandates they selfishly wasted. As the 2023 general election comes closer, Edo people must beware of these same elements coming to seek for their votes in sheep’s clothing.
