The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released a statement on the current challenges being faced by the Nigerian National Football Team (Super Eagles) in Libya. This is coming after the captain of the Eagles, William Troost-Ekong, took to his X handle to lament about the situation of things at the Libyan Airport. According to him, there kept hostage for almost 12+ hours without food, good sleep nor internet access.
However, the Libyan football authority, the LFF, has in the afternoon of today released a statement stating that the situation the Nigerian National Football Team players found themselves where unintentional and that they were going to do something about it but up till now, there hasn’t been any sign that they have done anything positive.
This was contained in a memo that was released by the media department of the federation. The memo reads “CAF views the disturbing and unacceptable experiences of the Nigerian National Football Team (‘’Super Eagles’’) at an airport in Libya in a very serious light.
The Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) has been in contact with the Libyan and Nigerian authorities after it had been informed that the Nigerian National Football Team (‘’Super Eagles’’) and their technical team were stranded in disturbing conditions for several hours at an airport that they were allegedly instructed to land by the Libyan authorities.
The matter has been referred to the CAF Disciplinary Board for investigation and appropriate action will be taken against those who violated the CAF Statutes and Regulations”.
