The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Friday, led other government functionaries to the service of songs in honour of late Pa Osabuohien Hubert Akpata, who died at the age of 82.
The late Pa Osabuohien Hubert Akpata is the uncle of the former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Olumide Akpata.
Obaseki, who described the late Pa Osabuohien Hubert as a ‘glue’ in the Akpata family, hailed the exemplary life of the late patriarch, commending his contributions to the development of his community and Edo State.
Other guests at the event include the Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Anthony Aziegbemi; Chief Osaro Idah and the Deputy National Youth Leader of the PDP, Timothy Osadolor, amongst others.
The governor said, “Uncle Osabuohien Hubert Akpata is like a glue in the Akpata family. I knew him when I was a child. He was a friendly uncle you can talk with. His passing is a loss and a gap that will be difficult to fill.”
He added, “This house was like a spot for all of us as children to meet. We will miss his words of wisdom. He lived an impactful life and left very successful children and family behind. We thank God for his life and the impact he has made.”
