Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has appealed to citizens and residents of Uhumwonde and Orhionmwon Local Government areas to vote en masse for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, in the forthcoming governorship election on September 21, 2024.
At a campaign rally held on Monday, September 2, 2024, Obaseki expressed confidence in Ighodalo’s ability to sustain ongoing development and reforms in the state. He said, “For every development, you need someone who will continue from where you stopped. Can an incompetent person sustain the development? No.”
Obaseki highlighted his administration’s achievements, including attracting investors like Saro Africa and Flour Mill, and establishing a palm oil nursery. He warned that incompetent leaders would chase away investors, leading to food and job shortages.
The Governor emphasized the importance of continuity, saying, “Everybody must come out to vote, because if we don’t continue what we have started, the outcome will not be good.”
Obaseki praised Ighodalo’s competence and capacity, stating, “Asuerinme is my brother, because we do things alike. He is more intelligent than me… He has built one of the largest law firms in Nigeria. He is not one of those looking for money. His love for the People of Edo State was what prompted him to leave the investment world to run for governorship.”
In his remarks, Ighodalo commended Obaseki’s developmental strides and assured citizens of sustainability and better governance if elected.
Obaseki concluded by saying, “They said they will use federal might, and you know we only have one Might, which is God’s Might. And when God has supported us, no federal might can do anything.”
