The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has called for the support and collaboration of entertainers and other stakeholders in the state’s creative industry to grow the entertainment sector, boost the state’s economy and create more jobs for youths, leveraging the opportunity of the world-class Sir Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub built by the state government.
Obaseki gave the charge when he led Edo entertainers, including Osaronkhae Lawrence (MC Casino) and Gbadamasi Jonathan (Edo Pikin), among others on a guided tour of the hub in Benin City.
The governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha, reassured that his government will sustain projects and programmes to enhance the growth of the state’s entertainment industry, ensuring that Edo youths realise their fullest potentials.
According to him, “We have brought our own in the entertainment industry to inspect this hub as they have made an impact in the industry. This facility is for their use and they are in the best position to enlighten the people on the availability of the hub in Benin City.
“The entertainment space, globally, is so massive and lucrative; hence, we want to make use of these great entertainers to boost the economy of the state.”
“This is a massive facility for the entertainment industry as we want to reposition Edo State as the world’s entertainment hub,” the governor noted.
On his part, Head, Edo Creative Hub, Charles Nzeribe said, “This hub, when in proper use, will generate more jobs for Edo people. Our goal is to reach everybody, both in the state and outside the state, allowing them to know that the hub is to be used for entertainment.”
Meanwhile, Osaronkhae Lawrence (MC Casino) commended the governor for the initiative of the creative hub, describing it as the dream of every Edo entertainer.
He added, “This is a great investment by the Edo State Government and a major breakthrough in the entertainment industry in the state; it is what entertainers in the state have been yearning for over the years. The governor has brought the dreams of entertainers to reality with the building of this entertainment hub.
“Edo has started appreciating Edo talents, with strong support from the government of the day. It’s a breakthrough in the industry and I hope to see more talented people in the industry contributing to the development of the state.”
“This is a one-stop-shop for the creative industry, which is the highest employer of labour. If this facility is properly utilised, the state can create employment of over 20,000 persons directly or indirectly,” he restated.
