According to the United Nations, the number of humanitarian needs is rising worldwide due to the continuous displacement of millions of persons affected by the rising cases of violence and climate-related disasters.
In a recent briefing, UN representatives said that the following shortages exist in affected regions for vulnerable groups of people: food, clean water, and medical products. The organization asked for additional funding for humanitarian activities by donor nations.
“Together, the scope of needs grows faster than the resources,” a spokesperson for the United Nations respectfully pointed out.
Humanitarian agencies have also highlighted the need for the protection of civilians and the safe access of humanitarian personnel in the affected areas.
