The Edo State Government has revved up the training and retraining of its workforce for effective and optimal service delivery, as workers from grade level 8 to 12 have been equipped with the tools and skills to effectively deliver on their jobs.
Declaring the workshop open at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy, in Benin City, the Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., said the training and retraining of workers in the state is in line with the commitment of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration towards building intellectual property resource which is essential to ensuring that workers deliver effectively.
The Head of Service explained that Mr. Governor has continually emphasized that the Service is the fulcrum of development of his government and has taken deliberate steps, putting in place mechanisms to ensure that every Edo worker is able to deliver on their jobs effectively.
The Head of Service said the government remains committed to transforming the state’s civil and public service, noting that the government is equipping the workforce, leveraging technology to improve productivity and service delivery.
Also speaking, Managing Director, John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy, Precious Imuwahen Ajoonu, explained that the training on effective communication has been designed to ensure that participants are equipped with the right communication skills which will help them function effectively within the service.
She took participants through some vital essentials in Human interaction which include understanding people/environment, phrasing of communication to build thrust, knowing the target audience and how to communicate effectively, among others.
On their parts, the participants expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Edo State Government for making the training and up-skilling of workers a topmost priority.
