Local government administration in Edo State is moving closer to normalcy as several suspended chairmen resumed office in compliance with a State High Court ruling. Among those returning were the chairmen of Esan South East, Esan North East, and Etsako West local government areas, who received votes of confidence from their respective councillors.
The reinstatements come after a prolonged suspension that had caused significant disruptions in local governance. The court ruling has been hailed as a victory for democracy and the rule of law, with many residents expressing relief that their elected representatives are back in office.
Hon. Charity Aiguobarueghian, Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly, commended the court’s decision and urged the reinstated chairmen to prioritize the welfare of their constituents. The move is expected to bring stability and renewed focus on development projects across the affected local government areas.
