Edo State Commissioner for Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Diaspora Affairs, Hon. Prince Bamidele Obaitan has assured the people of Edo State of Government ‘s Commitment towards the preservation of the rich cultural heritage and develop all the numerous Tourist Centers statewide.
Honourable Obaitan who stated this in Okpekpe, Etasko West Local Government Council shortly after he participated in the Okpekpe marathon race, said sport should be identified as one of the ways in promoting tourism in the state, adding that the ministry wants to collaborate with Edo State Sports Council in Okpekpe marathon race to have all the cultural sites as a stopping point in a way of promoting those cultural sites.
The Commissioner told Newsmen that the Ministry has mapped out plans to introduce cultural display to spice up such ceremony when hosted annually so as to attract foreigners to Okpekpe marathon race as well as support and showcase our young artistes to the world as a way of attracting foreign currencies to the state.
The Commissioner, who expressed appreciation to the state Governor Mr Godwin Obaseki for his continuous efforts in hosting the event annually, congratulated the winners of the competition for thier sterling performance.
