The Edo State Government has said it is collaborating with partners to boost the capacity of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the state as part of plans to create wealth and improve the livelihoods of Edo residents.
In a statement, the representative of the Edo State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Co-Operatives and Director, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development, Mr. Omonbude Oyedoh, said the government will sustain reforms and programmes to guarantee business growth.
He noted that considering the lack of managerial skills among business owners, the state government is assisting entrepreneurs to grow and take their businesses to sustainable levels.
The commissioner said, “Besides, as a result of the economic situation of this country, all businesses should adopt new ways of working in order to be able to survive. There has become the urgent need to adopt processes that can mitigate against harsh economic realities to enable businesses to remain competitive.”
He added, “In line with the plan of the Ministry to link successful participants to sources of funds, the Manager of Bank of Industry was invited to sensitize participants on EDSG-BOI MSMEs Fund of N2 billion.
“However, you should not limit your abilities to solicit funds to Government funds alone. You are trained to upscale your businesses to be able to access capital from other sources. I charge you all, irrespective of your gender, to seize every incentive opportunity that may be available.”
Also, the Permanent Secretary, Edo State Ministry of Industry, Trade and Co-operatives, Yuwa Naps, said the government is organizing a literacy workshop for business owners in Edo Central, in partnership with GIZ.
She urged MSMEs in Edo Central Senatorial District to participate in the Basic Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy Workshop, scheduled to hold from Monday, 6th June, 2022 in Esan West Local Government Council Hall.
