Edo State Government suspends taskforce on environmental issues
The Edo State Government has announced the suspension of the Edo State Taskforce on Development Control and Environmental Issues domiciled at the Ministry of Environment and Sustainability.
In a statement by Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq., the government said that it will, in due course, inaugurate a new taskforce for sanitation to enforce matters relating to environmental sanitation.
According to him, “Members of the public are by this announcement advised to desist from engaging with the defunct taskforce on matters of development control and report anyone found parading themselves as members of the taskforce to the relevant security agencies.
“The Ministry of Physical Planning, Urban and Regional Development is primarily empowered to regulate development control, including approvals of building plans and other such permits. The government will sustain its campaign – Operation Plan Edo (OPE), in pursuit of the realization of the Edo Regional Development Plan and Benin City Master Plan.”
