The Federal Government has commended the Governor Godwin Obasei-led administration for its relentless support for the Federal Government’s programmes in the state as about 3,124 Edo residents, on Friday, benefitted from FG’s Conditional Cash Transfer programme.
Head of Unit, Household Uplifting Programme (HUP), Edo State Cash Transfer Unit, Mrs. Flora Bossey, gave the commendation while addressing journalists after distributing debit cards to beneficiaries of the programme, in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Bossey said the state has continued to contribute towards the success of the programme, providing human resources and a conducive office environment for the programme.
He said, “Beneficiaries from Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State are here today to collect their debit cards as cash transactions have been stopped since last year. The 3,124 people are part of the 12,108 beneficiaries under the Federal Government Conditional Cash Transfer programme.
“Cash Payment stopped in April last year as the process has been digitalized. Debit cards are being given to beneficiaries of the programme. For Edo, they are being paid 20 months’ arrears of their N5000. The cards are pre-loaded with N100,000. The beneficiaries are here to collect their debits card.”
