The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has reassured the government’s commitment to ensure the speedy completion of the Police Area Command Office in Urhomehe, Orhionmwon Local Government Area, and other projects across communities in the state to improve security and guarantee the safety of lives and property of residents.
The governor noted that his administration’s sustained investment in the state’s security architecture is part of efforts to make Edo a safe haven for investors, ensuring the influx of investors into the state.
Chairman of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC), Pastor Kennedy Osifo, spoke on behalf of the Governor, when he led the Edo Commissioner of Police, CP Philip Ogbadu, represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, DCP Miller Dantawaye and other members of the EDSOGPADEC board on an inspection tour of the ongoing reconstruction of the Area Command Office.
Noting that the project is the first Area Command Office in Orhionmwon LGA, the governor said security remains a topmost priority for the state government.
Addressing the CP, he noted that “though the plan for the structure was for a Divisional Headquarters, but having considered the fact that there is no existing Area Command Office in the whole of the LGA, the state government, through EDSOGPADEC, opted for the building of the first Area Command Office to serve the people in effectively and efficiently securing lives and property.
Disclosing the government’s plan to build accommodation for officers that would be posted to the Area Command, the governor reassured that the project will enhance formidable security architecture in the locality that meets international best practices.
In his remarks, DCP Dantawaye, expressed appreciation to Governor Obaseki on the project, pointing out that the Area Command building will propel the officers that would be posted to the office to achieve the set objectives in terms of adequate policing, and reiterated the need to add more offices to give the building a standard Area Command Office like those in urban areas.
Also, the jubilant residents of Urhomehe hailed Obaseki and EDSOGPADEC board for the project, noting that the building will speed up the development of the area.
