In a significant legal development, the Court of Appeal has directed former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, to present himself for arraignment on corruption charges. The court’s ruling, delivered on Tuesday, also restrained Bello from taking further action until he is arraigned.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had filed 19 counts of money laundering against Bello, alleging that he laundered a staggering N80.2 billion during his tenure as governor.
In a setback for Bello, the Court of Appeal set aside the earlier judgment of the Kogi State High Court, paving the way for his trial to proceed.
