On Wednesday, Justice Danlami Senchi of the Federal High Court FCT issued a ruling that said Oshiomhole is henceforth banned from being the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as he had been suspended at his ward and local government level.
Less than 24hours after, Oshiomhole went for an appeal of that verdict at a court of similar jurisdiction in Kano. But according to legal experts, only a court of a higher jurisdiction can overturn Wednesday’s verdict and therefore, Oshiomhole remains suspended.
Supporters of the suspended national chairman had claimed victory and said by Friday, Oshiomhole would resume his duties as the national chairman of APC. The secretariat however remained locked and barricaded by the police and DSS. His staff have been prevented from entering the secretariat and his office remains sealed.
As things stand, Oshiomhole remains suspended.
