In a surprising move, the Edo State House of Assembly has unanimously decided to terminate the appointments of all political appointees attached to its members. Speaker Blessing Agbebaku announced the decision during a plenary session in Benin City, stating that the appointees will receive their February salaries despite the immediate termination.

The decision, which affects special advisers, senior special advisers, and other political appointees, was collectively agreed upon by all 24 members of the House. The Assembly cited the need for a fresh start and a more streamlined approach to governance as reasons for the mass dismissal.
One resident commented, “This is a bold move by the Assembly, but I hope it doesn’t disrupt ongoing projects and initiatives.” Another said, “It’s about time we had a shake-up in the system. Let’s see how this decision impacts our state.”
