BENIN CITY – Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has firmly reiterated his administration’s focus on tangible infrastructure and economic growth, telling supporters and citizens alike that his mandate is strictly business.
Speaking today, January 6, 2026, at a town hall meeting in Benin City involving members of the Akpakomiza Movement, the Governor addressed the expectations of the electorate with a clear message: the time for political rhetoric is over, and the era of execution has begun.
“You voted for me for development, not stories,” Governor Okpebholo declared to the gathered crowd. “Our mandate is to transform Edo from an ancient city into a modern economic hub. That is the contract I signed with the people, and that is what we will deliver.”
The Governor emphasized that his administration is prioritizing projects that will directly impact the livelihoods of Edo residents, focusing on urban renewal and modernizing state infrastructure to attract investment.
Commitment to Security in Auchi
The town hall also addressed the pressing issue of security in the state. Governor Okpebholo took a somber moment to address the recent unfortunate abduction and killing of Dr. Abu Momoh Tahir in Auchi.
Condemning the act in strong terms, the Governor assured the people of Edo North and the state at large that his government is working closely with security agencies to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended.
“We will not allow criminal elements to threaten the peace of our state,” he stated. “Those responsible for the attack on Dr. Tahir will face the full wrath of the law. Security of lives and property remains our top priority.”
The Governor concluded by urging the Akpakomiza Movement and all Edo citizens to remain patient and supportive as the administration rolls out its development blueprint for the new year.
