The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has disclosed why he will never grant any television or live interview ahead of the 2023 election.
This was contained in a post by Tinubu Network Organization (TNO), which has now been deleted on the Twitter handle of the support group.
The former Lagos State governor further added that he has nothing against those presidential candidates visiting the media, but added that their actions of hoping of the media for their publicity showed they have no political structure and cannot win the coming 2023 general election.
The tweet which tagged Tinubu’s official handle and other APC stakeholders’ handles read, “I don’t have any business with the media as regards to live television interviews, I am contesting for Nigeria president, not media president.
“Asking me why I have not granted any live interview since my emergence as our party flag bearer, to me is never an issue of discourse especially now that our nation is yearning for a good leader that will take over from Mr. President and continue his good legacy.
“Nigeria is in need of a pragmatic leader with pragmatic knowledge and understanding of their needs and that person is me. I am not going to Aso Villa to represent the Nigerian Broadcasting Cooperation, neither am I going there to represent the Nigerian Journalists, rather I am going there to represent the people of Nigeria in the international community as their President.
“Is Live Television a guarantee to win to become Nigeria president? Is never a guarantee and will never be. I am not against those going to them for interview. They are free to go but as for me, nobody will tell me what to do or what not to do. They don’t own me.
“All I know is that I am fully prepared ahead of the 2023 election. I have the Structure, the mechanism, the experience and expertise to the election. Those going to media are those without political structure and cannot win more than two polling units in their State, that is why they are busy running after the media to help publicize them and make them famous. That’s all.
“Insha Allah, I am the next President of Nigeria, no two ways about it. It’s already clear that Nigerians all over the country are strongly behind me right from the East, West North and South. I have no rival and I don’t see any rival at all in the forthcoming elections. All I see is noise makers, people without political structures and baby politicians running up and down simply because the constitution gave them the privilege to try their luck via contesting for an election.”
Recall that there have been growing calls for the APC presidential candidate to speak to the citizens by Nigerians ahead of the 2023 election.
The call followed the constant engagement of the citizens by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, who on Saturday was interviewed by CNN Asher on a live programme.
Peter Obi a former governor of Anambra State has also appeared on other local and international media to speak and answer questions from Nigerians all over the world on his plans and programmes if elected as the president of the country in 2023.
Another opposition presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, had appeared, and spoken to Nigerians about his plan for the country if elected in 2023, though in a recorded interview on Arise TV.
