The Edo State Government has banned the use of unauthorized vigilante uniforms in the state. This was contained in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Osarodion Ogie.Â
The statement also revealed the authentic inscription.
The statement reads: “The attention of Edo State Government has been drawn to the flagrant violation of the Edo State Security Vigilante Network Dress Code by some persons suspected to be impersonating the operatives of the Security Network.”
“The General Public is to note that persons wearing T-shirts and Visor Caps (face cops) with inscriptions: “Special Forces”, “Special Squad”, “Anti-Cultism Vigilante”, “Special Anti cultism Vigilante”, “E-surveillance”, “Special Tactical Team, “Homeland Commando”, “Gallant Vigilante”, “VGN” and other such inscriptions aÅ™e not members of the Edo State Security Vigilante Network.”
It continued: “Consequently, all such unappröved apparels and uniforms are hereby banned from Edo State. All Edo State Security Vigilante Network operatives are hereby ordered to be dressed in the approved uniforms bearing the Edo State Security Vigilante Network (ESSVN) inscription for easy identification.”
The statement also added that all sector Commanders /Commanders, Tactical commanders wll be held liable in event that operators under ther command violate this order.Â
Members of the public were called upon to report any operative violating this directive for approprlate disclpllnary action via the Public Complaints numbers;

“The Nigeria Police, Department of State Security and other Security Agencies have been directed to arrest and prosecute violators of this directive,” the statement added.
