The Edo State Police Command has reassured residents of the State of adequate security of lives and properties during and after the yuletide.
Speaking with personnel at the Edo State Police Command, Benin City, during the launch of ‘Operation Show of Force’, the State Police Commissioner, Mohammed Adamu Dankwara, said adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the protection of life and property of residents.
He stated, “The operation we are going to launch today will tell the criminals that we are ready. We have been telling them we are ready but we are redoubling our efforts to checkmate the activities of criminals and criminality in Edo State.
“I want to appreciate everyone. We are doing very well. A lot of people are acknowledging our excellent performance. There is a synergy between all the security agencies in the state. The essence of this gathering is to have a crime-free and peaceful Edo State. I nicknamed this year show of force as ‘Operation AKHULIKPATA’.”
The spokesman of the Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, said, “The essence of this operation Show of Force, nicknamed, AKHULIKPATA, simply means, driving away criminal elements from Edo State. The show of force is to tell Edo people and the general public that we are working. This is a kind of confidence building towards the celebration of Christmas and New Year. As we already know, we are already in the ember months. Sooner or later we will be entering December so people can know that we have taken over the public space knowing that our duty is to secure lives and property to tackle criminality.”
Other security agencies that participated in the exercise include the Nigerian Army, the Directorate of State Services, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigerian Air Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigerian Immigration Service, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the Nigerian Custom, and the Edo Security Network, among others
