The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has commiserated with a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Tom Ikimi, over the passing of his sister, Madam Tessy Namorie Ikimi.
In a statement, the governor said, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Madam Tessy Namorie Ikimi, sister to a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Tom Ikimi.”
He added: “Madam Ikimi was a matron at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) and made immense contributions to the healthcare sector in the country.
“A multi-talented Madam Ikimi also dazzled with her culinary skills and had a successful career as a caterer. She trained many young people in the craft and contributed to grooming many entrepreneurs in the food and confectionery sector.”
Obaseki continued: “She was a generous soul and gave herself freely for the betterment of society. In the course of her multifaceted career, she remained true to her essence, inspiring and caring for others with keen attention to details.
“With a likeable and convivial personality, she espoused the virtues of self-reliance, compassion and integrity.
“She will be remembered for her loving and caring nature and her commitment to ensuring that people she cared for lived a healthy life.
“I commiserate with the Ikimi family as well as friends and associates of Late Madam Ikimi, and pray that God grants all the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
