Ahead of the resumption of schools in September, the Edo state Ministry of Education has organised a capacity building workshop aimed at preparing secondary school principals in Edo state in line with the ongoing reforms in the Educational sector tagged EdoBest 2.0….
The 5-day training exercise which had secondary school principals drawn from the three senatorial districts began on Monday at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy with a short fitness exercise where the participants were taken through short drills before they began some lecture sessions.
Welcoming the secondary school principals who are now to be referred to as “EXECUTIVE PRINCIPALS” the state commissioner for education, Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe commended them for cooperating with her and the Governor Godwin Obaseki led administration to ensure that the education sector is revamped for the benefit of all Edo children. She took out time to explain the five pillars of the Edo Best 2.0 program and addressed questions from the participants.
In an exclusive interview with EICO Media, shortly after her speech, Dr. Oviawe apologised for slow payment of arrears owed teachers under the Edo Star Fellowship programme stressing that the issue and other issues pertaining to the programme would be resolved soonest as the Executive Governor of Edo state Mr. Godwin Obaseki has handed down marching orders to the management of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to ensure speedy resolution of the issue and assured the affected fellows to exercise patience and calm with the government as all outstanding arrears and payments would be settled before the end of August..
The training programme for Secondary school principals in Edo state continues and will end on Friday 2nd August 2022.
