…as trade unions endorse PDP, Ighodalo, applaud Obaseki for restoring sanity
Benin City, Edo State – Trade unions in Edo State have endorsed the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Asue Ighodalo, and his running mate, Barr. Osarodion Ogie.
The traders praised Governor Godwin Obaseki for restoring sanity to commercial activities in the state, citing the elimination of multiple ticketing and thuggery.
Governor Obaseki expressed gratitude for the endorsement and urged traders to vote for the PDP on September 21, 2024, to safeguard their livelihoods and businesses.
“Your support and contributions to Edo State’s economic growth have been invaluable,” Obaseki said. “Dr. Ighodalo’s business expertise will create an enabling environment for small and medium-scale businesses to thrive.”
Obaseki cautioned against voting for the Labour Party, stating it would be detrimental to businesses and equivalent to supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Unlike the previous administration that brought in thugs to start disturbing you at your place of businesses; thugs who called themselves lions and tigers, collecting money for tickets in the morning and night; you would agree with me that in the last 8 years we have achieved a lot,” Obaseki noted.
“In the last 8 years, you have seen how business has flourished in Edo. You are well aware of the tremendous improvements in your businesses under my administration. I know you want that growth to continue. Vote for continuity, the opposition has nothing to boast of than the federal might they claim they have.”
He added, “This election is critical. It is a very decisive moment for us. Vote wisely, vote for your livelihood and businesses. They have assured us that there would be security, no need to be scared. Stay back and protect your votes. Wait for them to count it.”
“This Saturday, it is between moving forward or backward. The message I want to leave you with is that there is no emotion; you are all business people and should stand against anyone that would want to impede your growth.”
Dr. Ighodalo assured traders that, if elected, he would maintain the positive working relationship established by Governor Obaseki.
“The difference between progress and regression hinges on your vote,” Ighodalo said. “Vote for what’s best for your family, children, and future, and you will improve your business and Edo State’s economy.”
The Edo State Governorship Election is scheduled for September 21, 2024.
