The Edo State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Obehi Akoria, has felicitated with Dr. Osahon Enabulele on his installation as President of the World Medical Association.
In a statement, the Commissioner hailed the thoroughbred physician for putting Edo State, Nigeria and Africa on the global map.
Prof Akoria said, “I rejoice on this epoch-making event – the installation of our own Dr. Osahon Enabulele as President of the World Medical Association.
“I heartily congratulate an outstanding Ambassador of University of Benin and University of Benin Teaching Hospital, and of the Nigeria Medical Association for putting Edo State, Nigeria and Africa on the annals of history.
“For us as healthcare practitioners and leaders in healthcare in Nigeria, this has come at an auspicious time – a time when we are grappling with the ripple negative effects of brain drain, and with negative stereotypes about ‘home grown’ medical practitioners.”
She added, “Dr. Osahon Enabulele is a purebred Nigerian physician of whom we are proud.”
According to the Commissioner, “Dr. Enabulele’s election and installation as President of the World Medical Association should strengthen the resolve of those of us who still believe in Nigeria and in the medical profession in our country.”
Akoria noted, “Healthcare practitioners, doctors especially, face myriad challenges, and we look forward to a tenure – under the leadership of Dr. Osahon Enabulele as President of the World Medical Association – when more physicians will be happy, and feel supported and protected as they work to improve public health locally, nationally and globally. Hearty congratulations, ‘Lion Killer.’”
